The Ripple Effect of Employee Care

The ripple effect can be huge on you, your team and organisation. When staff feel respected and supported, they are more likely to take initiative and go above and beyond for customers. I recall a time in my early days leading a team when the CEO asked us all to work a long day and night for a specific roll out. Because we respected him, we believed in him and his vision, we did. All of us.

We got the rollout done in time, and the results were beyond our expectations. The feedback from our customers and CEO was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone appreciated the new features and enhancements we had implemented, and it was clear that our hard work had paid off. We felt a sense of accomplishment that went beyond just completing a project; it reinforced our belief in each other and in the leadership of our CEO. 

Looking back I recall how the CEO showed vulnerability with us all when he requested us to work late. There was something that hadn’t been done, and he was owning it. This open display of vulnerability and commitment, encouraged all employees to reciprocate with their own dedication. This has been one of the driving forces and impact upon me as a leader. The vulnerability, the mutual respect and the open discussions that built trust along the way. All ways to create a powerful dynamic team that drives success.

Investing in your employees’ well-being is an investment that MUST happen. It shapes the way teams operate, influences company culture, and ultimately impacts customer satisfaction. When employees feel valued, they are more likely to be engaged, motivated, and willing to put in extra effort.
